The Chinese food culture in Kolkata has it's root back to 18th Century, when the Chinese traders started bringing Sugar (Chini) & Tea (Cha) to india via sea route. Many says, the 1st connection of Chinese settlement in West Bengal or India is found in Achipur, aprrox 30 km to the south of Kolkata, where you will find the tomb of the earliest recorded Chinese who settled in India.
Fast-Forward, 21st Century, the oldest (and probably the only one) China Town in India, you will find in Kolkata, with it's own heritage and localised flavour, which gave birth of 'Indo-Chinese' cuisine.
Two of my most favourites, is of course, 1. Chicken Lollipop (the Dry and fried version) and 2. Drums Of heaven (lightly coated with dark sauce and sautéed with vegetables). Honestly, this is extremely customised to Indian taste buds and you can make it spicy and hot, as per your taste. I can assure you, no matter the purpose of the party, these 2 will never disappoint you and your guests.
